Heavy Rainfall, Strong Storms to End 2018
FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR PARTS OF THE AREA
After a soggy Thursday night, rainfall will continue to end the last full week of 2018. Brief heavy rainfall is possible along with a small risk for stronger storms as instability mixes with strong winds aloft to produce thunderstorms.
A flash flood watch is in effect for a large part of our area until Saturday morning as storm total rainfall may reach 2-4″ in spots, producing urban and small stream flooding and possible larger-scale flooding in some instances.
A brief lull in the rainfall is possible this evening into Saturday, but rainfall returns for the last two days of the year for Sunday and Monday. More thunderstorms are possible Monday as moisture and instability return to the area.
Chances for rainfall will linger into the first few days of 2019 before a cold front finally knocks away the moisture and Gulf inflow, bringing temperatures down to seasonable levels as well.
