Rain Begins Today, Sticks Through End of Year
FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL SATURDAY FOR PARTS OF THE AREA
A cloudy and breezy morning through the area will turn into a windy and rainy one later on into the afternoon hours as an intensifying storm system approaches the area.
Highs today will reach into the lower to middle 60s despite cloud cover due to a southerly wind component bringing in increased moisture from the Gulf of Mexico.
The heaviest of the rainfall will come tonight into the midday hours Friday, with thunderstorms becoming possible as well. While one or two storms may bring strong winds aloft to the surface, widespread severe weather is not expected.
After a brief respite Saturday into early Sunday, more rainfall is expected to close out 2018 and ring in 2019 before a cold front ushers in colder weather for the first week of the new year.
