GBI Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in Fayetteville

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer involved shooting in Fayetteville.

The shooting happened on Friday around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Banks Rd. and Highway 85.

A Meriwether Sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull over 36-year-old Rodriquez Kemp.

Kemp then fled and a chase pursued down Highway 85.

The chase ended in Fayette County where a Fayetteville police officer deployed stop sticks in an attempt to stop or slow his vehicle.

It worked, but Kemp continued to flee from officers.

Then, Fayette Police and Sheriff Deputies attempted to arrest Kemp but he was armed with a shotgun and began firing at officers.

Officers returned fire, striking Kemp numerous times.

Kemp was taking to an Atlanta hospital in critical condition.

No officers were injured.
