Car Runs Over Scooter on Macon Rd. Killing Two People

Two people are dead after they were hit by a car while on a scooter.

It happened on Macon Rd. Saturday afternoon.

33-year-old Toni Lee McCharge died on scene.

30-year-old Jeremy Blankenship died Sunday morning at the hospital.

According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, the driver looked down at her son and when she looked back up, she was on top of the scooter.

Columbus police may charge the driver with vehicular homicide.

McCharge’s body was sent to Decatur for a GBI autopsy.

Bryan said Blankenship’s body will not since the hospital confirmed his injuries.
