Study: Women Who’ve Given Birth More At Risk For Breast Cancer
STUDY: WOMEN WHO GAVE BIRTH MAY BE AT SLIGHTLY HIGHER RISK OF BREAST CANCER
(CNN) – Woman who have given birth can be at a slightly higher risk of breast cancer than those who haven’t.
That’s according to a new study published in the journal “Annals of Internal Medicine”.
The study looked at about 900,000 women worldwide who are younger than 55.
It shows that the increased cancer risk peaks during the first five years after giving birth.
The higher risk still lingers for up to 23-years after having a child.
But after the 23-year-mark, things appear to change and a childbirth then seems to make women less likely to develop breast cancer.
Expects still say that mothers shouldn’t worry because the cancer risk increase is small.
