Goodfellow Named to Academic All-America Team

Columbus State University soccer player Madeline Goodfellow was recognized for her work in the classroom as she was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America team.

Goodfellow was the only Peach Belt Conference selection of the 33 members. The sophomore currently carries a perfect 4.0 grade point average and is majoring in general business. Goodfellow is one of 16 members on the teams to carry that perfect 4.0 grade point average.

The team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

A stalwart defender on the field, Goodfellow recently earned her second consecutive All-PBC and All-Southeast Region honors. The defender has started all 41 games of her career and has now led the Lady Cougar field players in minutes played in each of her two seasons.

This season CSU was one of the best defensive teams in the conference, allowing just 16 goals in 21 matches. The Lady Cougars had nine shutouts this past season, including four in postseason play as they captured another PBC Tournament and Southeast Regional championship.
