What’s New on DVD, Blu-ray & Digital Download?

Muppets, nuns, and Bigfoot lead the way

NBC’S Raphael Seth takes a look at the latest offerings in home viewing.

Channing Tatum has some tiny shoes to fill in “Smallfoot”. This animation features the “Magic Mike” star as the voice of a yeti. He’s come in contact with a creature only heard of in Sasquatch lore — the elusive human. But telling the tale makes Tatum an outcast from his tribe. So to prove them wrong, he stakes out low-elevation ski lodges and coffee bars. “Smallfoot” is digital this week.

Say your prayers with the release of “The Nun”. This spinoff continues to tell “The Conjuring” story in reverse. Taissa Farmiga, younger sister of “Conjuring” star Vera Farmiga plays the role of a young novitiate. She’s sent with father Demian Bichir to investigate a suicide in Romania. It’s an errand that will threaten not only her father, but her life. “The Nun” is on digital, DVD, and Blu-ray.

Muppets get turnt in “The Happytime Murders”. This blue comedy comes from the son of Muppets creator Jim Henson. It takes place in a world where dolls and humans live side-by-side. Melissa McCarthy is a detective working on a series of Muppet murders. But she has to deal with a hand-sewn former partner with a patchy past. “The Happytime Murders” is on digital, DVD, and Blu-ray.
