Alaska Hit By 1000+ Aftershocks Since Friday
ALASKA HIT BY JUST OVER A THOUSAND AFTERSHOCKS SINCE FRIDAY'S 7.0 EARTHQUAKE
Anchorage, AK (KTVA) – Alaska was hit by just over a thousand aftershocks since Friday’s 7.0 magnitude earthquake.
Friday’s big quake knocked out power, ripped open roads and splintered buildings near Anchorage.
Despite damage to roads and buildings, no fatalities or serious injuries were reported.
Most of the smaller aftershock earthquakes that followed were not felt.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the majority were a magnitude of 2.5 or weaker.
Anchorage’s municipal manager says more than a dozen of the small quakes were higher than magnitude four and a handful were greater than magnitude five.
