Nick Saban and Kirby Smart talk on the Starting Quarterbacks Ahead of the SEC Championship Game

ALABAMA AND GEORGIA HEAD FOOTBALL COACHES MEET WITH THE MEDIA IN TODAY'S SEC CHAMPIONSHIP PRESS CONFERENCE

We are now less than 24 hours away from the rematch of last year’s National Championship between Alabama and Georgia. Both starting quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa and Jake Fromm talked about heavily in today’s final press conference.

“The quarterback, which ever quarterback is played, certainly has done his role extremely well. Jake has played really well for him. When #1 comes in he does a really good job of executing his role and you know it creates some preparation issues for you when you try to defend that,” says Alabama head football coach Nick Saban.

“He’s spatially aware of where people are, so he can sit in the pocket amongst trees and giants and people rushing at him that he has no fear, you know people are barreling down on him, he side steps them, keeps his eyes down field, he understands leverages and he knows where he is going with the ball,” says Georgia head football coach Kirby Smart on Tua Tagovailoa.

With the college football semifinals looming around the corner and questions circulating around #1 Alabama and #4 Georgia, both head coaches insist to their players to play in the exact moment that they are in.

“I think it’s only fair to our players, as coaches, as people in our organization, and for each one of them to stay focused on what they have to do that’s right in front of them, which is you know this particular game against a really good team,” says Saban.

“We don’t look at it as the moment is bigger than you. We look at it as we’ve been in a lot of big moments. We’ve had a lot of pressure moments. We want to go out and play, and I think the best coaching job you do, is when you have your team prepared to play and not anxious,” says Smart.

Kickoff for the SEC Championship game is 4pm eastern time in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
