Americans are not living quite as long as they used to.

A new government report reveals the average life expectancy dropped to 78-point-six years in 2017, down slightly from 2016.

The overall mortality rate, rising by nearly half a percent.

Although the leading causes of death did not change there were troubling changes.

Deaths from drug overdoses topped 70 thousand and the suicide rate increased by almost 4 percent.
