Developing Diabetes Working the Night Shift

Your Health Minute

The night shift takes a toll on your health.

In Your Health Minute,

Working the night shift combined with an unhealthy lifestyle might lead to an increased risk of developing type two diabetes.

Researchers followed more than 143-thousand nurses who were healthy at the beginning of the decades long study.

Nearly 11-thousand later developed diabetes.

Those were working at least three rotating night shifts per month and were nearly a third more likely to be diagnosed.

Those who had a combination of working nights and an unhealthy lifestyle tripled their chance of developing the disease.
