A smartphone app can detect a serious type of heart attack almost as well as an EKG. The kardi mobile device from Alivecor uses a two wire attachment to take an electrocardiogram that’s immediately set to a cardiologist.

Researchers in UTAH tested the app on about 200 patients who were having chest pain.

The device was nearly as accurate as a standard EKG in identifying a stemi heart attack which can be fatal without quick responses.
