Spencer Teacher Accused of Sex With Student
Antonio Rainey Fired After Internal Investigation
The Spencer High School teacher was taken into police custody on Halloween after Investigators were tipped off to multiple social media posts referencing the alleged sexual encounters.
The Muscogee County School District was apparently the last to know.
Antonio Rainey was once described as a leader in the classroom and according to a press release dated last summer he was selected as a Teaching Fellow for Columbus State University.
But his arrest came as a surprise to few students here at Spencer High School after weeks of salacious commentary circulated online posted by the alleged 18 year old victim in the case who also shared text messages exchanged with the teacher.
“They were like he’s lame for posting it because the teacher was really a good teacher and he was nothing like that. He was like everybody’s favorite teacher,” Marcus Seville said.
Officials with the Muscogee County School District declined to comment on camera about the arrest but issued a brief statement saying Rainey’s employment with the school district was terminated last month just three days after an internal investigation.
