Health guidelines recommend at least two sessions a week of weight lifting, push ups, or other resistance training.

But a new study finds three-quarters of Americans fall short of that goal and 60 percent do none at all.

People who did meet the standard had fewer chronic diseases like diabetes obesity and cancer.
