EQUESTRIAN: No. 1 Auburn Hosts Ole Miss in Exhibition

The No. 1 Auburn equestrian team welcomes Ole Miss to the Auburn University Equestrian Center for an exhibition meet Friday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m. CT.  Admission is free.

“We are looking forward to this meet and welcoming Ole Miss to Auburn this weekend,” head coach Greg Williams said. “It’s a great opportunity to give some of our student-athletes a chance to compete at home and it should be a great day.”

The Auburn lineup will feature a group of talented Tigers Friday vs. the Rebels.

The Equitation on the Flat corps will be led by seniors Mackenzie Michaels and Casey Schmitz as both have found success in the event throughout their time on the Plains. Joining the pair will be junior Becky Kozma and sophomores Emma Crosbie and Helen Ulrich. Kozma has been a solid contributor in the event for the Tigers throughout her career.

Riding in exhibition in Flat will be junior Lillian Wagner with senior Alex Ladove slated as the alternate. Sophomore Carly Hoft will provide the demo.

Auburn fans will get to see a pair of decorated freshmen for the first time in a dual setting as Ellie Becker and Emma Brown are set to ride in Horsemanship. Joining the newcomers are a trio of experienced Tigers in sophomore Anna Enos, junior Haley Pembroke and senior Emma Paul. Junior Sydney Hoffa will serve as both the alternate and demo rider.

Ladove and junior Anna Claire Smith will guide the Equitation Over Fences corps. Also competing for the Tigers will be Hoft and classmate Ericka Koscinski, while freshman Meghan Knapic also earned a starting slot. Senior Kennedy Knapic will ride in exhibition with Ulrich as the alternate. Senior Ashton Alexander will ride the demo.

Three Tigers are slated to compete in Reining with junior Kara Kaufmann leading the charge. Sophomore Taylor Searles will join her with experience, while freshman Charlie Sue Pates earned the first starting nod in her career.
