Northside Patriots Softball Team Enters into the 1st Round of State Playoffs

REIGNING GHSA 4A STATE CHAMPS LOOK TO DEFEND TITLE

The Northside Patriots softball team enters into round one of state playoffs tomorrow night as the reigning GHSA 4A state champs.

The Lady Patriots went undefeated in region play winning its fourth straight region title.

From last year’s state championship team, the girls have only lost two seniors putting the pressure on the team to go back to back winning the state title.

“Actually it’s not easier to handle this year, because since we already did win state everyone expects it even more. Last year they expected it because of all the talent we had, but this year since we have a majority of it coming back they expect it even more than they did last year which puts more pressure on us,” says Northside junior pitcher and third baseman Raelee Weaver.

“Just to see where they have come from since August and how they’ve grown as a team and how we found that identity and you know, now, like I said they’re playing for each other you know, and at the end of the day that’s what I tell them, that’s all that matters is that you are playing for each other,” says Northside softball head coach Brandon Jenkins.

Northside will host Woodward Academy in round one tomorrow night in a double header starting at 5pm eastern time.
