Central’s DJ Rias is Eagerly Awaiting His Chance to Get Back on the Field
CENTRAL SENIOR DJ RIAS HAS BATTLED INJURIES FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS AND IS EAGERLY AWAITING HIS CHANCE TO GET BACK ON THE FIELD
Rather it’s Central’s practice in the morning, the afternoon, or a game on Friday night, DJ Rias had had to watch from the sidelines for the past two years.
“11th grade I tore my right ACL and meniscus. Spring game of my 12th grade year, I tore my ACL in my left leg,” Said Rias.
After two grueling injuries, rehab is something DJ has become familiar with.
“The first couple weeks you have to fight past constant pain every day. After that, its pretty much mental.”
His sophomore year he started as cornerback and slot receiver, but not being on the field the past two seasons has been tough.
“It hurt me a lot, I wanted to be out there with my brothers and play, but it is what it is and I just tried to suck it up and be the best teammate I could be.”
DJ and his coaches hope that he can be back by the start of the playoffs and after two brutal injuries and two seasons of recovery, that opportunity would make it all worth while to him.
“It’s worth it because some people In life don’t find things they love until later and these injuries are showing that I love football and that makes it all worth while to get back. Especially when you’re playing with your best friends everyday”
