Extreme Heat This Weekend

Little Impact from Florence on our Area

A hot and humid weekend is on tap so load up on the sunscreen and bottled water!

Today through the Sunday we can expect daytime highs in the low to mid 90s under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Heat indices could reach the low 100s.

We should stay rain-free for the most part, but could see a few showers on Sunday.

Nightly lows will be in the upper 60s to mid 70s.

Hurricane Florence has been downgraded to a Cat 1, but our focus now is not on strength, but on storm surge (up to 13″) and flooding (up to 40″ of rainfall) that will bring devastation to the Carolina coast and inland, too. A slow mover, she’ll make landfall sometime this morning near Wilmington, North Carolina. Expect little to no influence on our area, but northeastern Georgia could get tropical storm force gusts of 39mph+ and 2-4″ of rain.
