Auburn Men’s Golf Team Is Determined to Win on The Biggest Stage

The Auburn Men’s Golf Team is coming off of a season that defied the odds. They spent the majority of the Spring rising in the rankings and then took down their biggest rival for a conference championship.

“We just wanted to play Alabama in the finals and then we got them,” Says Trace Crowe. “When Wells made that put it was just unreal”

The season eventually came to an end in the semifinals of the NCAA Championships, but for a young team valuable experience was gained.

“We got the experience being in Nationals and then making it to the semifinals and having a taste of almost winning a national championship. I think it will be good for us this year,” Said Brandon Mancheno.

“We’ve got to give a lot of credit to our coaches,” Says Ryan Knop. “They’ve got us ready for those big moments.”

“The little things that we do, rather it be in the gym this morning at 6:15 AM, assessing their bodies and continuing to try and get better. Not only physically, but mentally as well,” Said Coach Nick Clinard.

The calendar now turns to a new season and the Tigers are focused on elevating their performance.

“Last Year is in the past, Says Clinard. “There’s new records to be broken and we’re looking forward to the opportunity.”

“I think this year it’s going to be hard for anybody to beat us,” Says Mancheno. I think we’re going to get better as a team and individuals and just keep going.“

“We don’t really have a goal. It’s kind of cliche, I think every team wants to be the National Champion,” Says Knop. “Just sticking to the process, everyday trying to get a little better. We expect to win every time we play”

“It comes down to confidence. It comes down to pushing for each other,” Says Clinard. “It’s a team effort and their all for each other”

The Tigers open up their season at the Carpet Capital Classic in Dalton, Georgia on September 7th.
