Survey: 43% of Women Harassed While Running
MOLLIE TIBBETTS MURDER BRINGS UP REMINDER THAT MANY WOMEN ARE HARASSED WHILE RUNNING
Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX (KTVT) – Mollie Tibbetts’ murder is bringing up a scary statistic for women.
Last year, a Runner’s World survey found 43% of women have been harassed while jogging.
That’s compared to just 4% of men.
The survey was highlighted after three women were murdered over a nine day period while out for a run in 2017.
The circumstances surrounding Tibbetts’ murder are bringing up the same concerns.
The 20 year old college student was jogging when she was approached by her alleged killer.
She told him to leave her alone, instead she was murdered.
Due to the threats of harassment, large percentages of women changed their habits like running only during daytime hours, changing up their routes, and keeping their cellphones with them.
