007 Loses Director

On such a big news day, we’ve got the latest on two of Hollywood’s biggest film franchises. Here’s David Daniel with the Hollywood Minute.

“It was extraordinary, and you don’t get that very often in your career, you know.”

Danny Boyle says “Bye-bye Bond!” The Oscar-winning director known for “Slumdog Millionaire” and “Trainspotting” has dropped out of directing the next James Bond film. The announcement, on the official 007 Twitter account, cited the ever present “creative differences.” No word if the change will affect the planned release date of November 2019.

“There is definitely a clear line between before ‘Star Wars’ and after ‘Star Wars’ in terms of my life.”

After ‘Star Wars’ hasn’t been all positive for Kelly Marie Tran. The actress deleted her Instagram posts amid a slew of racist and misogynistic comments from others. Now Tran is fighting back in a New York Times op-ed column titled “I Won’t Be Marginalized by Online Harassment.” The first woman of color to play a major role in a “Star Wars” movie writes “I had been brainwashed into believing that my existence was limited to the boundaries of another person’s approval” and concludes “My real name is Loan And I am just getting started.”

In Hollywood, I’m David Daniel.
