Thunderstorm Coverage Increasing

Friday Night Lights In Jeopardy

A stationary front draped across Alabama from northwest to southeast will be the firing mechanism, along with the heating of the day, for slow-moving or nearly stationary thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening. Much like Monday, the coverage is more likely just south and west of Columbus.

Said stationary front will develop into a warm front and progress toward the northeast at midweek. This will allow deeper moisture to return off the Gulf of Mexico, and in turn lead to more coverage to afternoon and early nighttime thunderstorms for the second half of this week. No widespread severe weather is expected, but in any Summertime thunderstorm, there can be strong gusty winds and hail.  Keep in mind that as the number of storms increases as the week unfolds, some area high school football games can be impacted.   Stay tuned.
