Arrest Made in 2006 Disappearance and Murder of an Auburn Woman

A twelve-year-old cold case out of Auburn finally has some answers and an arrest.

38-year-old Derrill “Rick” Ennis was arrested in Virginia and charged with two counts of capital murder in the disappearance and death of Lori Slesinski in June 2006.

Family and work did not hear from her for a few days, so they reported her missing June 13.

The next day, Auburn police found her car engulfed in flames at the dead end of Dekalb St.

Ennis was an acquaintance of hers and a person of interest before he skipped town.

April 2017, multiple agencies came together to reopen this case.

Their investigation determined Ennis killed her.

He was arrested in Montgomery County, Virginia Monday.

Ennis remains in custody without bond in Virginia pending extradition to Auburn.
