Flood Watch In Play For Some
Quieter Weather This Weekend, But Not Rain-Free
Additional bouts of rain, including a heavier thunderstorm, will run from southwest to northeast across the region through Thursday. Another 1-3″ of rain, on average, is expected through Thursday evening, although a few spots can receive as much as 4″. The flash flood watch was extended across Georgia until Friday morning, but the pockets of heavy rain will likely diminish Thursday evening. Nonetheless, with the ground saturated, any additional shower and thunderstorm that redevelops Friday afternoon can still pose a concern. Low lying country roads that run along creeks continue to be the most vulnerable to flood.
The weekend overall still looks to be quieter. It won’t be completely rain-free, but the coverage area to thunderstorms should be much smaller. The combination of much less wet weather, and at least a partly sunny sky will bring 90+ degrees back for many of us. This trend will continue into early next week. A weak cool front may approach from the north by Thursday to help enhance some more thunderstorms.
