Michelle Obama Launches Voter Initiative
FORMER FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA TEAMS UP WITH CELEBRITIES FOR A NEW VOTER INITIATIVE CALLED "WHEN WE ALL VOTE"
(CNN) – Michelle Obama is back in the spotlight; this time announcing a new voter registration initiative.
It’s the focus of a new non-profit organization called “When We All Vote,” which was launched Thursday morning.
Ahead of the midterm election, the initiative will be strictly nonpartisan and feature Obama and others sending personal messages urging people to register to vote.
The former first lady is teaming up with celebrities for the campaign, including actor Tom Hanks, country music stars Faith Hill and Tim McGraw and “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.
According to one document describing the group’s plans, “When We All Vote” will partner with media outlets that young Americans use most.
The non-partisan nature of the campaign is reportedly frustrating some top Democrats, who’d prefer Michelle Obama focus on campaigning for democratic candidates.
The first public service announcement will be released Thursday, with more supposedly in the works.
