Separated Parents Sue Immigration Officials
SEPARATED MIGRANT PARENTS SUE US IMMIGRATION OFFICIALS FOR MORE COMMUNICATION WITH CHILDREN
(CNN) – A small group of migrant parents separated from their children while crossing the border illegally are suing to get more communication with their kids.
The three Central American parents are taking legal action against U.S. immigration officials.
In their Thursday federal court filing, they accuse immigration authorities of not ensuring enough communication between parents and children.
Health and Human Services estimates around 3,00 children have been separated from their parents.
The plaintiffs in the case say they are also having trouble getting in touch with case managers and haven’t gotten any details on reunification plans.
Among other things, the plaintiffs’ lawyers want the government to make those plans available.
