Puerto Rico:Judge Orders Fema Housing Aid Extension
FEMA IS ORDERED TO KEEP PAYING HOTEL BILLS FOR MANY PUERTO RICANS FAMILIES WHO LOST THEIR HOMES TO HURRICANE MARIA.
(CNN) – The federal emergency management agency will keep footing the hotel bill for hurricane Maria victims.
A judge ordered FEMA to keep paying hotel stays until July 24th.
Last week the agency said it was going to end the program on June 30th.
FEMA says it has spent more than $432-million over the past ten months.
However, the announcement of this extension apparently came too late for some.
Since last weekend, many of these evacuees left their FEMA-funded hotel rooms to live with relatives or other places.
