Dee Armstrong

News Anchor & Program Host

I like to tell stories that have an impact on people’s lives. My great passion is to give people information that can help them make good decisions and help others have better lives. I like to make them laugh too!
I have had the privilege of doing that for the past 40 years as a television reporter, news anchor, and talk show host. When I started in television at age 19, I was the youngest weekend news anchor on the air in the country at the time.
It is still humbling to realize I have been named the most liked news anchor in the Columbus, Georgia market for the last several decades.
It blows my mind when I review my list of awards and recognitions. I have resolutions awarded to me by the Georgia State Legislature and the U-S Congress for my leadership in the newsroom and the community at large. I have been named, to list a few, African American Female Role model of the Year in Columbus, the Courier Eco-Latino Distinguished Service Award, and Woman of Integrity.
I am the president of the local Alopecia support group that raises money for children with severe hair loss and a frequent speaker at churches and community groups. I also host a Saturday morning prayer group for parents on Facebook Live.
I have had success in takin g old properties and renovating them turning them into nice clean affordable housing and look forward to many more projects to come.
And I have appeared in two feature films, produced by Ty Manns, that air on cable television, “The Wish” and “My Brother’s Keeper”.
I also had an awesome opportunity to appear on stage alongside Hollywood actress Drea Kelly (ex-wife of R Kelly) in the Angel Terron play, “Angry Insecure Men”.
Educationally, I earned my bachelor’s degree in political science from Georgia State University in 1985.
But my most fulfilling work has been raising my wonderful children. The older they got the more I learned about myself and the world around us.
What many people don’t know about me is I was an insurance agent for years. I became a top earner, but eventually returned to television.
I also play keyboards and love to sing.
The best decision I ever made was making Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour.
