Teenager Charged after Shooting in Traffic
Markel Ervin Arrested 3 Times in 3 Weeks for Multiple Charges
A Columbus Teenager charged after police catch him randomly shooting in traffic is facing multiple charges for several incidents.
In less than one month, 17 year old Markel Ervin has been arrested three times for nine separate charges
According to jail records, Ervin was picked up April 22nd for giving false information to police and criminal trespass.
Less than a week later he was arrested again for battery, criminal trespass and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
But while he was out on bond, Ervin allegedly held his 16 year old girlfriend against her will for two days.
The victim didn’t show up for curfew after a dinner date prompting her mom to file a missing persons report.
Ervin allegedly shuffled the victim from house to house before she was recovered with a black eye and scratches.
When police caught up with the teen he was riding around randomly firing a pistol on Floyd road.
Ervin was arrested for the third time in just over three weeks and this time the teenager was charged with possession of a firearm, reckless conduct, felony kidnapping and false imprisonment.
Ervin claimed in court he was hiring a high profile criminal defense attorney so the judge delayed the hearing but demanded he stop trying to contact the victim.
Markel Ervin is currently being detained in the Muscogee County Jail with no bond.
A new preliminary hearing date is scheduled for May 24th in Recorder’s Court.
