Ground Beef Recalled Over Bits of Plastic

A KROGER SUPPLIER RECALLS GROUND BEEF BECAUSE IT MIGHT BE CONTAMINATED WITH BITS OF PLASTIC

Cincinnati, OH (WXIX) – A North Carolina food processing company that supplies meat to grocery giant Kroger is recalling upwards of 35,000 pounds of ground beef.

The concern is that the meat could contain small pieces of hard plastic.

The Agriculture Department says JBS USA issued the recall after a consumer complained about hard, blue pieces of plastic found in a product.

The recalled beef was produced on March 22nd and shipped to Indiana and Virginia to be sold.

It is packaged under the labels Kroger ground beef, private selection Angus beef, Kroger ground sirloin and all natural Laura’s lean beef.

The products are stamped with EST. 34167.

The Department of Agriculture says there haven’t been any confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to anyone eating the products.

However, customers are urged to return or throw them out.
