Warm To Storm
Damaging Winds Possible This Weekend
A gusty breeze throughout the region early today combined with sunshine to make for another warm day. That wind will be diminishing as the evening wears on, but it will remain warm the entire time.
Saturday will feature another warm afternoon with a gusty breeze. However, there’ll be more clouds developing during the day as our latest cold front approaches from the west. Severe storms across Mississippi and western Alabama early in the day will be slow to progress eastward. While a few spots can pick up a thundershower by day’s end, most areas will wait until Saturday night for some of the nasty storms to arrive. East of the Hootch, thunderstorms can easily hold off until after midnight. Some of the storms will produce heavy rain, leading to isolated flash flooding. Damaging wind gusts with an isolated tornado is also possible, let alone some hail.
Drier weather will return from west to east Sunday midday and afternoon with a little sun, but a cold, gusty wind at times.
Monday will likely remain brisk and chilly. As the wind diminishes Monday night, the coldest part of these latest air mass will arrive. Milder weather returns for the rest of next week.
