Uber Self-Driving Trucks are Now Hauling Freight

UBER SAYS IT IS USING SELF-DRIVING TRUCKS TO HAUL FREIGHT IN ARIZONA

(CNN) – Uber announced Tuesday it has begun using self-driving trucks in Arizona.

But not in its ride-sharing service.

The technology is only being used in its freight program, which matches traditional truck drivers with individual hauling trips.

Trucks using Uber’s driverless technology do still have a human driver behind the wheel as a backup; just in case it’s necessary.

But Uber plans to have the trucks operate without people eventually.
