Alzheimer’s Association’s 10th Annual “Dancing Stars Of Columbus” Announces Star Studded Cast

Columbus, Georgia. – March 2, 2018. – Philanthropic Columbus residents will show their moves on the dance floor for one exciting evening to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. The event, Dancing Stars of Columbus will take place on Friday, April 20, 201 at Columbus Georgia Convention and Trade Center in Columbus, Georgia.
Mirroring the popular TV show, the event pairs local Columbus celebrities with professional dancers to raise money by gaining votes in a one-night gala dance competition. Supporters can vote online for their favorite dancer prior to the event. Every vote costs $1 and will raise critically needed funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. In 2017, Dancing Stars of Columbus raised more than $369,000. People’s choice award winners, the contestants that raised the most money were Columbus resident Chris Bowick and professional dancer Maria Burnely.

The event will be hosted by Amy Adams, Beatycounter Director and Community Volunteer and Dr. Jonathan Liss, Board Certified Neurologist and Founder of Columbus Memory Center.

More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, the sixth-leading cause of death in the U.S. and the only disease among the top 10 causes that cannot be cured, prevented or even slowed. Additionally, more than 15 million family and friends provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias in the U.S. In Georgia alone, there are more than 140,000 people living with the disease and 519,000 caregivers.
