Walmart Raises Minimum Age to Buy Guns and Ammo

Walmart Raises Minimum Age to Buy Guns to 21

(CNN)-Walmart is raising the minimum age to buy guns and ammunition at its stores.

The retail giant says it will now only sell guns and ammunition to those who are 21 and older.

Walmart will also remove items resembling assault-style rifles from its website, including non-lethal airsoft guns and toys.

The company pledged to continue to serve hunters and other sportsmen in a “responsible way.”

Walmart’s decision came hours after Dick’s Sporting Goods announced it would stop selling assault-style weapons similar to the one used in the Parkland, Florida school shooting.

Dick’s also raised its minimum age to purchase a firearm to 21.

In a statement, Walmart says it stopped selling weapons similar to the one used in the Florida shooting back in 2015 and only sells handguns at its stores in Alaska.
