Scholar Athlete: Columbus High School Girls Lacrosse, Rachel Vaughn

Motivation doesn’t fall short with Rachel Vaughn who strives to excel in the classroom and on the field as the captain of the Columbus high school lacrosse team.

“I’m pretty self driven because I know if I don’t do well in school then I can’t play so I try and study when I have free time,” says Columbus high school senior lacrosse player Rachel Vaughn.

Free time, something Rachel doesn’t get a lot of being a 4.3 GPA student and a member of the French club, Beta club, and National Honor Society.

“I like to stay busy because the few days when I don’t have practice I just feel bored, I get bored really easily,” says Vaughn.

She is also involved in junior cititan where see is able to exercise one of her passions, which is to one day work with kids.

“We go out and do service projects or we do things around the school pick up trash and we do stuff with the special ed kids at school,” says Vaughn.

Being a senior and graduating in May, the one thing she will miss the most is her teammates.

“We all just get along so well and then its just going to be weird going off to college and not seeing them two hours a day,” says Vaughn.

Congratulations to Rachel Vaughn of Columbus high school this weeks scholar athlete.
