Charges Reinstated In 2015 Deadly Amtrak Crash
CHARGES REINSTATED AGAINST AMTRAK ENGINEER ACCUSED IN 2015 PHILADELPHIA DERAILMENT
Philadelphia, PA (KYW) – Criminal charges were reinstated against an Amtrak engineer blamed for a deadly train wreck in Philadelphia.
The train derailed in 2015, killing eight people and injuring more than 100 others.
On Tuesday, a judge overturned a lower court ruling that threw out the charges against engineer Brandon Bostian.
The charges include involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment, and risking a catastrophe.
Investigators said that the train was going more than twice above the speed limit before the crash.
Pennsylvania’s Attorney General, Josh Shapiro, said after Tuesday’s ruling that he plans to seek justice for every crash victim.
