Scholar Athlete: St. Anne-Pacelli Basketball, Scout Hadley
Motivated to play from growing up watching her dad referee basketball, Scout Hadley found her passion in sports and how they can also give back.
“Sports keep me active, they keep me fit, they keep me healthy. I get to play with a really great team and I love it,” says St. Anne-Pacelli senior Scout Hadley.
Year round she is playing one of three sports between volleyball, basketball, and softball. Among that she is in Art, Spanish, and English society club all while maintaining a 3.9 GPA. Her main focus for keeping up her grades is rooted in sports.
“Your grades determine whether you play or not and this is my passion so you know if I keep the grades up I can be on the court 24/7,” says Hadley.
With a busy schedule it’s easy to just put the focus on herself, but she is always looking for ways to give back.
:Just through the week if I can help anybody I will you know show that I’m different from everybody else,” says Hadley.
St. Anne-Pacelli wasn’t even sure they would have a women’s basketball team this year due to numbers. They were able to make it happen when 9 players stepped up. While having a small team presents its own challenges, Scout focus on the positives.
“We’ve always had that challenge trying to get enough girls to play, but i’m just happy that people came out this year and they are ready to work,” says Hadley.
With it being her senior year and still unsure if she will get the opportunity to play at the next level, she says the one thing she will miss the most is the sore muscles.
“It is just a sign of improvement and there’s always room for improvement,” says Hadley
Congratulations to Scout Hadley of St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School, this week’s WLTZ scholar athlete.
