Pesky Fog And More Rain Headed Our Way

Holiday Travel Impacts

Winter officially arrives at 11:28 am EST Thursday.   While some areas will have a partly sunny sky at that hour, others will be mired in low clouds.   The day will even start with patchy fog.

As higher humidity returns later this week, the coverage to fog will only increase by Friday and Saturday mornings.  There may even be spots of drizzle.   To break the back of this “fog streak” we’ll need a potent cold front to arrive on scene [cue Canada].   One such front will bring another batch of rain; perhaps even a rumble of thunder without the risk of severe weather, this weekend.  The greatest threat of rain will be later Saturday through Sunday midday.

Colder, Canadian air arrives just in time for Santa to climb down the chimney.   Despite colder weather returning, no snow is expected this time around.  However, if you’re traveling this weekend, accumulating snow is likely for parts of the Upper Plains and Midwest.   Christmas Day around here will feature plenty of sunshine.  Stay safe, and happy holidays!
