Lady Cougar Softball Releases 2018 Schedule

As the 2017 calendar year winds to a close, Columbus State University head softball coach Brad Huskisson has announced the 2018 schedule for the Lady Cougars.

The Lady Cougars have 55 games on the slate including 25 games at Cougar Field and four others at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus.

“We think we’ve created a strong balance of regional opponents at home and away over the first month of the season that will have us ready to go when Peach Belt Conference play starts,” Huskisson said.

The 2018 season begins Feb. 3-4 with the Southern Softball Showdown at South Commons. The last two seasons, the event pitted the PBC and Gulf South Conference against each other. This year, the two conferences welcome the Sunshine State Conference to the mix as well.

CSU will open against Valdosta State and Florida Tech, with games scheduled against Lynn and Montevallo on the second day.

Columbus State’s first games at Cougar Field will take place on Feb. 9 as the Lady Cougars welcome Albany State in for a doubleheader.

CSU will hit the road in February to play in a tournament at Auburn Montgomery (Feb. 10-11) and the ESPN Tournament in Orlando (Feb. 23-24), along with a road doubleheader at West Georgia.

The Lady Cougars will host the first of two tournaments on their home field Feb. 17-18 as CSU will take on Wingate and Tuskegee in the Cougar Classic. They will then open the month of March with the CSU Classic and games against Barry, Bloomfield and Newberry.

Conference play begins on March 9 at Georgia Southwestern and features road doubleheaders at Augusta, Flagler, UNC Pembroke and Georgia College. The Lady Cougars will host North Georgia, Lander, USC Aiken, Young Harris and Francis Marion.
