Scholar Athlete: LaGrange High School Women’s Soccer, Eva Hutton
Preseason is in full swing at LaGrange high school as the women’s varsity soccer team preps for the 2018 season.
“We have this entire time, months in advance of getting ready and preparing so that we are the best that we can be,” says LaGrange women’s soccer senior captain Eva Hutton.
Soccer isn’t the only thing that’s on Eva Hutton’s plate. As a senior she is prepping to get ready for college making sure she maintains her strong GPA of a 4.78 and by taking online classes through West Georgia Technical College. She even finds time to fit in her membership with the National Honor Society and a Foreign language club.
“It is definitely an advantage for students to take college classes to help you get ahead, but it can be a struggle when you are trying to balance the extracurricular sports and activities along with these advanced college classes,” says Hutton.
With all of the stress of maintaining good grades, Eva isn’t having to go through it alone. Her teammates also reach for a higher standard. November 16th, the LaGrange men and womens soccer programs were recognized for thier high GPA’s being named one of only six high schools in the state of Georgia and 47 in the country for their exemplary performance in the classroom.
“We work really hard to try and promote academics and we really want to be successful not only on the field but also in the classroom,” says Hutton.
She plans on attending the Georgia Institute of Technology next fall but will miss the moments spent with her teammates. Congratulations to Eva Hutton of LaGrange high school this weeks scholar athlete.
