LGBTQ Group is a First for the Opelika Christmas Parade

LOCAL LGBTQ GROUP TO FEATURE VOCALISTS AND VISUAL ARTISTS

The Auburn-based organization Pride on the Plains plans to don their spirit during this coming Saturday’s Christmas Parade.

This will be the first time that an LGBTQ-focused organization participates in the parade.

The board members for Pride on the Plains say, “Pride on the Plains is a local, community-based non-profit group, with one overarching mission: celebration,

education, empowerment, and inclusion among Alabama’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and allied peoples. We look forward to showcasing local

talent on this year’s Pride on the Plains float, including vocalists and visual artists, in a way that is aligned with community standards for a holiday-themed event.

We are excited about joining the Opelika community as neighbors, celebrating the holiday season.”

The parade begins Saturday, December 2 at 10:00 am CST.
