Five Russian Athletes Banned from Winter Olympics

Five Russian athletes who competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics have been banned for life for doping violations.

The list of violators included two gold medalists at the games that took place in Sochi, Russia.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the lifetime bans on Monday.

The five competed in skeleton, four-man bobsled, and biathlon.

This brings the total number ofRussiann athletes suspended from the games for life to 19 just this month.

The IOC annulled the 2014 results after an investigation found widespread doping and tampering with samples of Russian athletes during the Sochi games.

Olympic officials have said they will decide next month whether Russian athletes can compete at the Pyeongchang Winter Games in South Korea in February.
