Manchester Returning a lot of Talent
THE BLUE DEVILS ARE HOPEFUL FOR A SUCCESSFUL SEASON
Since Evan Hochstetler took over the Manchester football program back in 2015, the Blue Devils have continued to rise. This is a tough task to do with such a small number of players, but because of that the goals for the season remain simple.
“We’ve got a lot of kids that play both ways so it’s offensively and defensively. We want to establish a tempo offensively and defensively. We just want to fly around and strike somebody pretty hard,” says Hochstetler.
The players have set their own goals too raising the bar higher than this team ever has.
“First goal is to win the region championship, compete for a region championship and compete for a state championship and win,” says Manchester senior defensive end Raeshawn Watson.
The guys are hungry for a shot at the title this year and it showed this summer with Manchester having one of its best turnouts for summer workouts.
“Our senior class has done a really good job this summer. I think this is the highest percentage since i’ve been involved at Manchester. We had about 87%, it might have been closer to 90, 91, as a senior class as a group coming in this summer working out,” says Hochstetler.
“We’ve got a lot of talent here, but we’ve got to get in shape and we’ve got a lot of players going both ways so at the end of the day can’t nobody stop us but ourselves,” says Watson.
After blowing out Greenville in the first game of the season 62-6, the guys have high hopes for this Friday’s game against Luella.
