PAWS Humane Hosts Reception For Partners and Public Officials.

PAWS Humane Reception

Columbus, Ga – The local media, city council, U.S. Congress, and state legislators were all represented at PAWS Humane Media and Public Officials Reception on Thursday, July 27th, 2017.

It was a wonderful opportunity for all of us to come together and talk about the mission of PAWS Humane and what we can all do to get Columbus, Ga., to a No-Kill Community.

Awareness and relationship building are just a few of the reasons we decided to host this event.

“It’s extremely important to us to show our media partners what we are able to accomplish with their help; they’re invaluable to us,” said Bobbi Yeo, PAWS Humane CEO. “It’s also vital that we form positive ongoing relationships with our public officials and legislators because there are so many opportunities to work together on animal related issues and bills.”

Among the many attendees that came to the reception was PAWS Humane alum, Beethoven.

As a deaf dog, we believed it could have been difficult for Beethoven to find a home. Contrary to that belief, Beethoven was only at PAWS Humane for a few short weeks. That’s when Lt. Zeisloft of the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Department found him.

Beethoven is now a therapy dog at the Muscogee County Jail, and has also recently been featured in the National Geographic book, Loyal: 38 Inspiring Tales of Bravery, Heroism, and the Devotion of Dogs.

The event took place at PAWS Humane, and “behind the scenes” tours were given of the facility in an effort to show our partners how we live out our mission.
