Chad Collins Ties Course Record During Second Round of Barbasol Championship

COLLINS SHOT A -11 ON DAY TWO, SITTING AT -15 HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND.

Chad Collins is feeling good.

The PGA Tour golfer shot a -11 in the 2nd round of the Barbasol Championship on Friday up at Grand National in Opelika, giving him a -15 total midway through the Tournament.

Collins had a fantastic back nine, grabbing four straight birdies on the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th.

He had a chance to break the course record of 59 but just missed his birdie putt on the 17th.  He wound up shooting a 60, tying the course record- a year after Jhonattan Vegas did in the second round of the 2016 Barbasol Championship.

“Just to have the opportunity to shoot 59, that doesn’t happen very many times and there’s not a whole lot of guys that can say I had a putt to shoot 59 or I had two holes just to make one birdie to shoot 59,” Collins said. “Obviously I had that opportunity twice, one on the Web.Com Tour in Utah and now here, it didn’t happen either time but it is what it is.”

Collins is coming off a tough few months, missing the last five cuts and 11 of 12.

His -15 total was good enough for 1st on the leaderboard as of 4:05pm CT on Friday.
