Atlanta Installs Rainbow Crosswalks

BUSY INTERSECTION CLOSES AS ATLANTA INSTALLS RAINBOW CROSSWALKS

Atlanta, GA (WSB) – Atlanta crews installed a rainbow crosswalks on a busy intersection this weekend.

The rainbow crosswalk first appeared in 2015, but crews removed them after the gay pride festivities.

Now, Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed has signed off on their permanent return.

This intersection in midtown is recognized for its history as a hub for Atlanta’s LGBTQ community.

An Atlanta resident said, “I think it’s fantastic. I think this is the epicenter of the gay community here.”

Back in May, more than 20,000 people signed a petition in support of permanent rainbow crosswalks.

That is more than previous efforts.
