New Rules for Transgender Persons & Military Service
SIX MONTHS NEEDED FOR PROPER VETTING OF ACCOMMODATIONS
Transgender people may have to wait six months before they are allowed to enlist in military service.
Persons who are transgender have been able to serve openly in the miliary since last year.
However, the services were given a deadline of July 1, 2017 to develop policies to allow transgender people to newly join the forces.
Military chiefs say they need six m months to determine if those who are transgender, and currently serving, are facing problems and what changes need to be made to accommodate them. The delay request will now go to the Secretary of Defense, Jim Mattis….who will make the final decision.
