(CNN) – A new study is shedding light on gun violence in the U.S.
Researchers found that from 2012 to 2014, on average 12,097 kids die each year from a gun-related injury.
That’s according to a study, published in the Journal Pediatrics.
More than half were homicides and 38% suicides.
About three percent were from self-harm.
The District of Columbia and Louisiana had the highest rates of child firearm deaths.
Researchers also found Delaware, Hawaii, Maine and New Hampshire had 20 or fewer deaths.
