Lions WR Tristan Purifoy Named NAL Offensive Player of the Week
PURIFOY SCORED FIVE TOUCHDOWNS INCLUDING GAME WINNER MONDAY NIGHT
A big performance Monday night is getting one Lions wide receiver some recognition ahead of the playoffs.
Tristan Purifoy has been named the National Arena League’s offensive player of the week.
In their win over the Monterrey Steel Monday night, Purifoy hauled in 9 passes for 145 yards and scored five touchdowns.
One of those scores was the game winner with just 6 seconds left.
“We had a great game plan going into this week and I can’t take all the credit. I’ve got to give it up to my offensive line and all the other receivers that help me get open. I just did the job and Mason (Espinosa) delivered a great ball,” Purifoy said. “It was a great feeling because I played against a lot of them. A lot of the guys down there in Monterrey are a lot of former teammates so it was great giving it to them as much as the trash talking they were doing before the game.”
Purifoy and the Lions will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, June 17th in Albany against the Georgia Firebirds.
They will then travel to Lehigh Valley for the semifinals of the NAL playoffs.
