Study Looks at Preemies Development
MANY PREEMIES DO AS WELL AS FULL TERM BABIES
Many parents of prematurely born babies worry about their education.
But there is new research that suggests most of these children actually do well in school.
The study of more than one million infants found two thirds of babies born at only 23 or 24 weeks were ready for kindergarten on time.
A small percentage qualified as gifted students.
However the extremely premature babies did score much lower on standardized tests, but those born 25 weeks or later, performed nearly as well as full term infants.
